For more than 1 month, Death Fast resister Sibel Balaç is held in a hospital in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey, against her will and despite the fact that she no longer can be held nor in prison, neither in a hospital. From 7 September until 8 October she was held in the prisoners ward of Dışkapı state hospital in Ankara. On the evening of 8 October, the lawyers from People’s Law Bureau, have announced that Sibel and her mother which was allowed to stay together with her, were transferred to Etlik state hospital which is also located in the capital city.

1- What is a hunger strike?

If we have to explain very briefly what a hunger strike is, it is an action in which we are starving for different periods in the name of different demands.

The hunger strike is the most legitimate weapon of resistance for those who have been victims of injustice and who are fighting for their most basic rights and freedoms. When this weapon is used properly, victory is inevitably won.
